What's The Difference Between A Hard Source And A Soft Source?
- Nov 20, 2018 -

Hard and soft sources are essentially the same, running a set of sampling programs and corresponding sounds in different hardware environments.

The hardware source solidifies the program and silver in a single shell. It is actually a small computer, but it is not a general-purpose system. It can be used anytime, anywhere. The soft source must be turned on to the computer, run the sampler and load the tone to use.

Because the hardware audio source is a specially designed hardware platform, the operation efficiency is relatively high, and the operation efficiency and quality can be obtained in a relatively low configuration. What is important is that it is relatively simple and convenient to carry and assemble. The computer system is more complicated, the sampler is just one of many applications, so the stability and efficiency of the operation is not as good as the hardware source.

However, with the increasing computer configuration, the hardware audio source in the midi production field is basically in the state of elimination, and it is completely taken over by the soft sound source. Only some of the most classic and rare hardware sources are still in use.
